"Kat and Kanary" was a strip that ran in The Beano from 1952 to 1958. It fitted firmly into the mould established by Tom & Jerry and Sylvester & Tweetie cartoons, with a cat trying and failing to eat a hapless bird.

It ran for three series. The first was drawn by Charles Grigg and Leo Baxendale, the second by Albert Holroyd and the third by Gordon Bell.

Kat was popular enough to be the original host of The Beano's puzzle page.
