"The Silent Three" from School Friend (1950s)

Horace Eli Boyten was born in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire, on 21 August 1901. He joined the Amalgamated Press as a sub-editor in 1925, and may have worked for the Boy's Own Paper and The Scout before that. HE mainly worked for AP's girls' weeklies as an editor and writer, often under the pseudonyms Enid Boyten and Hilda Boyten, and, together with managing editor Stewart Pride and artist Evelyn Flinders, created "The Silent Three" in School Friend in 1950. He died in Haringey, London, on 9 April 1986.
