Big Willi was, honest to god, the name of a strip that ran in Warlord in 1980. Until I found this cover (right, drawn by Mike Dorey), I was half-convinced I'd imagined it.
"Big Willi" tells the stories of Willi, a German Non-com in World War 2 as he works up through the ranks up to Officer.. Whether he was inspired by IPC's "Hellman of Hammer Force" or vice versa is not clear.
