It featured a boy named Charles who owned a hot water bottle in the shape of a large-eared character. Every night, Charles entered a dream world where his hot water bottle, named Walter Hottle Bottle, came to life and accompanied him on various fantastic adventures.
In Walter Hottle Bottle's last appearance in Jack and Jill ( dated 30/09/1972 ), Charles is told by his father that they are moving to Australia to live. The last drawing shows Charles and his family at the harbour waving goodbye to his friends with Walter Hottle Bottle under his arm.
