"The New Woman" from Judy, 1894
William Henry Archibald Chasemore was born in Kensington, London, in 1844. A self-taught artist, he first appeared in Punch in 1867 and soon became a regular contributor to rival Judy. His work appeared in the early issues of Ally Sloper's Half Holiday, as well as Fun, C. H. Ross's Variety Paper, the Boy's Own Paper, Pick-Me-Up and many other titles. He was living in Barnes, Surrey, in 1901, and died there in 1905.
