"Slaves of War Orphan Farm", Tammy, 1971
Desmond Eric Walduck was born in Islington, London, on 9 June 1920, the son of Frank Walduck, a railway booking clerk, and his wife Maud Louise, née Bowsher, a book folder. A freelance artist, he was brought in to assist Frank Hampson and his studio on the 1953 Dan Dare Space Book. He also worked on the regular weekly Dan Dare strip in the Eagle, from the later episodes of "Operation Saturn" (1954). He and Don Harley did most of the art for "Prisoner's of Space" (1954-55), while Hampson was ill. He also drew "Sammy in Space", with Bruce Cornwell, for Swift, "Red Devil Dean" (1955-56) for Express Weekly, and "Slaves of War Orphan Farm" (1971) for Tammy. Outside of comics, he illustrated books. He died in Hammersmith, London, in the fourth quarter of 1995.
